Former champion boxer and NSW North Coast politician, Steve Cansdell, is on a mission to set a new world record, but it's not just about personal achievement. His determination has been fueled by the incredible progress of a critically injured young girl.

After delivering an impressive 225,000 punches to a boxing bag, Steve Cansdell is now gearing up for a monumental challenge. On October 14th at 9:30 am, at Roches Hotel in Grafton, the former NSW MP and Australian Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion will attempt to establish a new world record for the most solid contact punches landed on a punching bag in one hour by a male over the age of 65. This record-breaking feat will be closely monitored by Australian boxing officials.

What makes this endeavor even more remarkable is the heartwarming story behind it. Steve Cansdell's inspiration comes from Tamsyn McConnell, a 17-year-old who suffered critical injuries in a tragic car accident on a remote road near Glenreagh on the NSW North Coast in September 2022. Tamsyn endured multiple surgeries and faced severe physical challenges, being non-verbal with limited mobility.

The good news is that Tamsyn has been making inspiring progress. With assistance, she now gets out of bed and is even learning to operate an electric wheelchair. Though she still faces communication difficulties, Tamsyn's small weekly improvements are nothing short of remarkable.

For Tamsyn and her family, the journey has been incredibly tough. Her mother, Tiffany, has been by her side in Sydney, while her father had to leave his job to care for their other five children. That's where you come in.

Steve Cansdell's world record attempt aims to deliver an astonishing 15,500 punches within a single hour, at a rate of more than 4.3 hits per second. But more than attending the event, what Tamsyn and her family truly need is financial support to stay together and continue supporting her recovery.

Steve Cansdell emphasizes that the real story here is Tamsyn and the McConnell family, not the record attempt. The story has already captured national and international attention, with Channel Seven's Sunrise planning to cover the event and generous donations pouring in from as far away as Switzerland.

To support the McConnell family, a GoFundMe page has been established. You can find more information about Tamsyn and the fundraiser, along with photos and videos, at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tam....syn-mcconnell-family

For inquiries and further information, you can contact Mr. Steve Cansdell at 0447 431 611 or via email at [email protected]. Let's come together to make a difference in Tamsyn's journey to recovery."
